Mary C. Spensley, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a funeral service taking place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur two hours prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was born April 10, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Hey) Berwanger. She was a graduate of Holy Ghost Catholic High School in Dubuque. Mary was united in marriage to Richard Spensley on August 15, 1954 in Dixon, Illinois; Richard passed away 1978.
Mary worked for many years in the Restaurant business. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was a devout Catholic - she loved her faith. Mary enjoyed playing cards and other games of chance. Above all she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Mary is survived by one daughter - Linda (Alan) Clark of Clinton, IA; one son - Richard (Shirlee) Spensley of Camanche, IA; seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one sister - Helen Kreamer of Texas, with several nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Thomas and one brother.
