Obituary for Mary Jo Rowland (Wenzel)
Mary Jo Rowland, 81, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away at West Wing Place Nursing Home on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Funeral services occur at 1 pm on Friday, October 30, at the Chancy Lutheran Church, Clinton. A visitation occurs two-hours prior from 11 am until the service hour at the church. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Mary was born January 28, 1939 in Bryant, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Kathrine (Believernicht) Wenzel. She was a 1957 graduate of Miles High School.
Mary was united in marriage to Henry Krogman in May, 1958, at St. Irenaeus Church, Clinton – they would later divorce. She then married Joe Rowland in September, 1987, in Crescent City, Nevada – they would also divorce, but remained close friends.
She was a devout Christian and loved her faith and was a long-time member of the Chancy Lutheran Church in Clinton. She was also a former member of the Eagles Club. Mary worked at A.C Nielsen Coupon Clearing House as a data entry associate, retiring after 28 years.
Mary loved going to garage sales and collecting unique and antique Bells. She also loved collecting various smiley faces. She loved her dogs “little-bit” and “snuggles”. She also enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs. However, family was her main priority in life and she loved her family dearly and will be sadly missed.
Mary is survived by her daughters - Sherry Dykema of Clinton, Julie Krogman of Clinton, Teresa Krogman of Clinton and Marlise (Dave) Leslie of DeWitt; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister – Joann Schlecht of Bellevue, IA; two brothers – Charles (Lenore) Wenzel of FL and Paul (Marianne) Wenzel of Clinton; one sister in-law – Linda Wenzel of Clinton with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother – William Wenzel and one sister - Kathleen Reistroffer.
