Obituary for Mary Carole Pinter (Kinney)

Mary Carole Pinter, 80, of Sabula, Iowa passed away peacefully at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with graveside services taking place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Mary was born June 20, 1940 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Harold and Victoria (Sterbenz) Kinney. She was united in marriage to Gerald Pinter on November 19, 1960 – they later divorced but remained best friends.

Mary was a healthcare worker, assisting with the needs of the elderly and the disabled for over 35 years.

Mary loved to read and loved being outdoors, especially tending to her garden. She also loved all of her fur-babies, cats and dogs, that she had throughout her life. Mary was very unselfish and would always help anyone in need. Above all, she loved her family very much and is greatly missed.

Mary is survived by two daughters - Rebecca (Troy) Widner of Preston, Iowa and Debra Wilson of Greenville, Michigan; one son - Ed Pinter of Sabula, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings – David (Joy) Kinney, Patricia “Pat” Roth and Sherry Wenzel; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, her ex-husband – Gerald; son – Daniel Pinter and one daughter - Ramona Gamber.
