Obituary for Mary Ann Hoppe (Luke)
Mary Ann Hoppe, 81 of Camanche, Iowa passed away at home on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Funeral services will occur at 4 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. A visitation will occur 2 hours prior from 2 pm until the service hour on Sunday. Following funeral services, cremation rites will be accorded with burial at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Mary was born May 17, 1937 in Yankton, South Dakota the daughter of Laurence and Mable (Christiansen) Luke. She was a 1955 graduate of Irene Consolidated High School, Yankton. Mary received her Nursing degree at the Pierre South Dakota School of Practical Nursing in 1957.
Mary was united in marriage to Harold Hoppe on November 14, 1957 in Viborg, South Dakota., together for 61 years.
Mary was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
As a Registered Nurse, Mary worked at several hospitals, ultimately working at Mercy Hospital after moving to Clinton and retiring after 45 years as a nurse. Following retirement, Mary continued to volunteer at Mercy Hospital.
Early on she enjoyed bowling and making ceramics. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially you grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband Harold; 4 sons – Mike (Cindy) Hoppe, Greg Hoppe, Kelly Hoppe all of Clinton and Kevin (Linda) Hoppe of N.C.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Kitty) Luke of AZ and step-sister – Dawn (Dale) Burmeister of S.D. with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents and 1 daughter Linda.
