Mary Ellen was a joy to work with at the Canticle, it was always nice to sit and chat with her at the end of the day. Even after I left for school, she would call me up every now and again to see how I was doing. Whenever I would think "haven't talk to Mary Ellen in a while, I should give her a call" and then she would call me right up. I had that very thought Wednesday the tenth only to find out on Friday that the world had one less loving grandma in it. I wish I could have been there for her, there are no words for how much I will miss our calls, only tears. I love you Mary Ellen you were a wonderful grandma.

Rest in Peace in Heaven, Mary Ellen. It was my pleasure for many years to have you and your family as patients. My sympathies to Charlott and family and to Bernard and family. God Bless.

I have known Mary Ellen for only three years. My story involves her kindness to one of our sisters during her time at The Canticle. My good friend, who lived next to me, had dementia. Mary Ellen was so good to her. She would ask her which of the two blouses she would like to wear that day. Never a cross work but a gentle reminder that it was time to eat or to go to prayers or to rest. Mary Ellen's patience, gentleness, and happy spirit made her a friend and one I admired.
