Obituary for Marvin V. Brandt

Marvin V. Brandt, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at his home on February 1, 2014. Honoring his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the memorial service from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday, February 26. Burial will take place at a later date at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marvin was born July, 7 1929 in Fulton, Illinois, the son of Edward and Hannah (Grosinger) Brandt. Marvin served his county by enlisting in the United States Army. On July 3, 1953 he was united in marriage to Florence Skiles; Florence past away this past March.
Marvin worked for Curtis Window for a number of years. Next he was employed with Clinton Corn Processing for almost 25 years. Finally, Marvin was employed with Clinton High School as a janitor for roughly 13 years, retiring at the age of 65.
Marvin loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, especially with his wife Florence. Marvin also enjoyed playing the lottery and occasionally visiting the Casino in town. He was also very fond of the family dog, Missy. Later in life he enjoyed the company of his morning coffee group at Hardees.
Marvin is survived by one son - Kenny Brandt of Clinton, IA.; one sister - Alma Hale of Clinton, IA.; one brother - Robert Brandt of Rockford, IL.; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his morning coffee gang of friends at Hardees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence; his daughter- Vicky and seven brothers and sisters.
Memorial made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
