Obituary for Martha "Marty" Swamberger

Martha 'Marty' Jean Swamberger, 72, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Thursday, May 7, 2015. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. A visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive - west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). An additional one hour visitation will occur before the 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at the church. Honoring Marty's final wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the Funeral Mass with burial at a later date. Lemke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marty was born December 2, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of F. Harry and Rosemary Viola (Steinbrenner) Faulhaber. Marty was a 1961 graduate of St. Phillips High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. She also acquired an associate's degree from Mount Saint Clare College in 1963. On November 16, 1963 Marty was united in marriage to Thomas 'Tom' Swamberger at St. Anne's Catholic Church at Gull Lake, Michigan.
Marty was a housewife, and for a period of time worked as an Assistant Manager at Hardees. She was also a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Marty started the hot lunch program at Sacred Heart Catholic School in the 70's. She also volunteered her time working funeral luncheons for Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Marty loved to cook and enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, knitting and really loved staying at the family cottage at Gull Lake during the summer. Above all she loved her family dearly and was very happy to be a grandmother. This small snap-shot of Marty's life can never possibly include all the wonderful things she' s done, the talents she had and the children and people she has positively affected during her lifetime.
Marty is survived by her husband Tom of Clinton, IA.; two daughters - Carolyn 'Callie' (Jeff) Swamberger -Case of Clinton, IA.; Theresa 'Terri' (Tim) Slade of Clinton, IA.; one son - Thomas Swamberger of Highlands Ranch, CO.; four grandchildren - Katie Fuller, Rachel Fuller, Connor Swamberger and Haley Swamberger; one sister - Carolyn (Robert) Melekian of Battle Creek, MI.; three brother in-laws - Ed (Jeanne) Swamberger of Clinton, IA.; and Tony Romeo of Littleton, CO., Harold Wilkinson of Clinton, IA. with many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Preceding Marty in death were her parents, , three sister in-laws -Sheila Wildman, Jane Wilkinson and Josie Romeo.
Memorials made can be directed to Mercy Hospice, Clinton or the Prince of Peace Building Fund.
