Obituary for Marlene Lilly

Marlene F. Lilly, 82, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on Sunday, August 20, 2017. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. A visitation will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. An additional visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the Church. Burial will take place at the Elvira Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Marlene was born October 5, 1934 in Ground Mound, Iowa the daughter of Marcus and Anna (Groenwald) Roseland. She was a 1952 graduate of Northeast High School.
Marlene was a member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church since the age of 6 years old.
Marlene was united in marriage to Robert Lilly on September 12, 1954 (together for 62 years) at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church.
Marlene began her career at the Curtis Company, she then paused her career to raise her children. Ultimately, she would work for the family business – "Time Lock Video Services".
Marlene loved spending time with her husband, traveling and fishing. For a period of time she bowled and also enjoyed spending time in her garden. She had a very creative mind both being an artist and utilizing her creativity at the family business. Later in life she enjoyed playing cards. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved it when the family would come into town, especially during Holidays. Above all she loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
Marlene is survived by her husband - Robert of Clinton, IA; one daughter – Laurie Lilly of Clinton, IA; two sons - Robert J. Lilly of Low Moor, IA and Ron Lilly of Batavia, IL; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with 2 great-grandchildren on the way; one sister - Lucille Schroeder of DeWitt, IA; one brother – Earl Roseland of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceding Marlene in death were her parents, one son – Larry, two brothers and four sisters.
