Obituary for Marjorie Tompkins

Marjorie Tompkins, 90, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. A funeral service will occur at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marjorie was born January 11, 1925 in Tipton, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Enys (McDonald) Fulwider. She was a graduate of Tipton High School and continued her education enrolling at the Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a certified registered nurse. She continued working at Jane Lamb Hospital/Mercy Hospital for 36 years until her retirement.
Marjorie was united in marriage to James L. Tompkins on August 14, 1949 in Tipton, Iowa. She was a member of the American Legion in Tipton, Iowa and the Loyal Order of the Women of the Moose.
Marjorie loved her Scotty dogs, they were her children. She also loved the outdoors, watching nature was a favorite pastime. She also enjoyed taking walks down at the river and enjoyed watching the eagles at the Lock and Dam. She also loved going on bus trips with her husband.
Marjorie is survived by one sister - Jean of Elkhorn WI; one brother in-law - Gail Mauck of Clinton, IA; one sister in-law Crystal Tompkins of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she has met throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
