Obituary for Marijane Howard (Preston)
Marijane Howard, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Friday, July 29, 2022. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services take place at 12 pm on Saturday, August 27, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation occurs 2 hours prior from 10 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Marijane was born November 2, 1933 in Fairport, Iowa, the daughter of Emery and Bertha (Richard) Preston. She was united in marriage to Floyd Howard on August 5, 1951 in Mount Carroll, Illinois.
Marijane grew up on a farm and that is where her love of the outdoors and animals began. Later she owned and operated a small farm with her husband in the Green Island area. She loved tending to her garden, riding horses, canning vegetables or just simply watching the beautiful birds at the feeder. She was also known for having “the best” Carrot cake around. She was greatly fond of her fur-baby - her dog Charlie. Later in life, she enjoyed working puzzles and reading. Marijane was a wonderful wife and loving mother and will be incredibly missed.
Marijane is survived by her three children - David (Marsha) Howard of Menno, SD, Cynthia (Michael) Ramig of Clinton, IA, Kris (Jay) Stroebele of LeClaire, IA; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild on-the-way; one sister - Nancy Spahr of Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son – Rickey, daughter in-law - Patsy; four brothers and two sisters.
