Obituary for Madonna Mary Waddell

Madonna Mary Waddell, 87, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at MercyOne Medical Center on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of her life taking place from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 8, at the Clysar Pavilion (2505 Industrial Park Road Hwy 67 Camanche). Burial will take place at a later date at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Madonna was born April 20, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Montgomery) McKenna. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

Madonna was united in marriage to Donald Waddell on June 11, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Church.

Early on Madonna worked for the phone company as a switchboard operator and then a housewife.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church and Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish.

Madonna loved playing board games and cards with her siblings. She loved entertaining all the neighborhood children, always providing assorted treats. As a homemaker, she loved taking care of her family and her home. She loved all the pets she had throughout her life, especially her fur-baby, her dog Rascal. She also enjoyed visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Texas. Above all, she loved her entire family very much and will be sadly missed.

Madonna is survived by her children – Pamela (Bill) Copeland of Clinton and Karla (Brian Martins) Taylor of Camanche; nine grandchildren – Shawna (Robert) Spera, Chad (Sarah) Huebner, Travis Huebner, Dr. Brett Copeland, Austin (Jessica) Taylor, Melissa (Devin) Shady, Tony (Kayla) Martens, daughter in-law – Melissa Waddell, Kevin Pingston, Zakk (Brianna ) Pingston; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister – Virginia Leu; with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Todd; five siblings – Harold, Bob, Nellie, Tom, Genevieve
