Lucille Dykes, 86, of Camanche, Iowa passed away at home on Friday, December 7, 2018. Funeral services will occur at 12 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur 1-hour prior from 11 am until the service hour on Saturday. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Lucille was born January 23, 1932 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the daughter of Riley and Mary (Moore) Dorsey. She was united in marriage to John Dykes in 1958.
She was a former member of the Bethel AME church and was an active member of the Willing Workers group within the Church.
Lucille worked at GE, in Morrison, for many years and was a proud mother taking care of her family.
She loved cooking for her family, she was known for her delicious sweet potato pie. She also enjoyed cleaning and loved working in her yard. She greatly enjoyed entertaining for her family and friends. Above all, she loved her entire family very much.
Lucille is survived by her son Greg Dykes of Camanche, IA; one grandson – Derrick Howard of Clinton, IA; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters – Billie Lee of Gary, Indiana and Barbara Cannon of Clinton, IA with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Lucille in death were her her parents, her husband John Dykes, daughter Charlotte Howard and son Gary "Sonny" Howard.
