Louis "Louie" W. Jurgersen, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. A visitation will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, at the Church. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Louie was born May 30, 1933 in Clinton County, the son of William and Delores (Lewis) Jurgersen. He was a 1951 graduate of Clinton High School. After meeting Roberta Bott, at the Fox Roller Rink, Louie and Roberta would be united in marriage on October 10, 1964 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Andover.
Louie was a long-time member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church where he also took care of the youth group, as well as, assisting at Sunday School. Louie started his career at Wards and then worked at Nelson Cashway Lumber Yard, for 20 years, specializing in screen and window repair. He would later work as a Custodian, at Trinity Lutheran Church, for another 15 years. Louie was recognized for his many years of service to the CROP Walk in Clinton.
Louie was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved watching the Cubs win the World Series. He also enjoyed coaching his son Mike in baseball. One of his greatest joys in life was taking his family to the Iowa State Fair, each year (for 40 years), camping there and enjoying the Fair. He enjoyed playing cards, Skip-Bo, with his wife and friends. He loved his two fur baby cats – Sugar and Spice. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.
Louie is survived by his wife – Roberta of Clinton, IA; one son – Mike (Delores) Jurgersen of Clinton, IA; adopted son - Jim (Michelle) Perryman of Clinton, IA; grandchildren – Tate, Ty, Conner and Baya; one brother – Ronald Jurgersen of Clinton, IA; one sister in-law – Marilyn Jurgersen in Clinton, IA; one brother in-law Dale (Nancy) Bott of Clinton, IA; 6 nieces, 4 nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews – with two on the way.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother – Reynold Jurgersen, two sister in-laws – LaVonne Jurgersen and Marilyn Bott and niece – Karen Kane Ealsey.
