Loren Dean Omann, 86, of Clinton passed away peacefully at his home on November 6th, 2012. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 12th, at Saint John Lutheran Church, Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11th, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Loren was born on March 22, 1926 in Knierim, Iowa, the son of Walter and Alvina (Zell) Omann. He graduated from Mason High School in 1944. Loren enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1944 to 1946 as a signalman 3rd class. On February 11th, 1950 he married Darlene Spake in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On February 11th, 2012 they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Loren worked for Stiles/Ace hardware for 13+ years as a manager. He was also a bus driver for the Clinton Community schools. Loren was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church. Loren loved wood-working, he loved sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Loren loved working at Stiles/Ace hardware, especially mentoring his young employees and inspired in them a solid work ethic. Above all he loved his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Loren is survived by his wife Darlene; three daughters - Marcia (Donn) Bruns of Arvada, CO., Marilyn Omann of Tarzana, CA., Michelle Fall of Camanche, IA.; one son- Mark Omann of Studio City, CA.; five grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and son-in-law Jeff Fall.
