Obituary for Linda Lou Bates (King)

Linda L. Bates, 69, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Monday, October 28, 2019. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service taking place at 11 am on Friday, November 1, at the Church of the Open Door. A visitation will occur 1-hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the Church. Burial will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Linda was born March 22, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Allan ad Mildred (Wakeland) King. She was united in marriage to Andrew Bates on January 20th 1967 in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Linda was a homemaker who loved her family dearly.

Linda loved bowling and participated on many leagues. She enjoyed visiting the Casino’s with her husband and playing Bingo. Linda loved watching sports, especially hockey - following her beloved team, the Chicago Blackhawks. Above all she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

Linda is survived by her three daughters - Diane Fenzel (Mick Merboth) of Clinton, Jody (Chuck Jr.) Turner of Clinton, Andi Jensen (Daryl Wyant); 5 grandchildren – Melyssa (Nick Jones) , Michaela (Daniel) Detlefsen, Michael, AJ, Hunter; 6 great grandchildren – Darlyne, Levi, Daniel, Madyson, Axel and Blake; 2 sisters – Betty Bousman and Mary (Chuck) Hayton; one brother – Ike (Connie) King all of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends - and her loving cat, “Pumpkin” and bird, “Sissy”.

Preceding Linda in death were her parents and husband, Andrew.
