Obituary for Lillian Peters

Lillian "Elaine" Nell Peters, 63, of Clinton, Iowa went home to her Lord and Savior on August 14,2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sterling, Illinois. A visitation will take place two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lillian was born July 27, 1951, the daughter of William and Lucinda (Tanner) Yarbrough. She was a 1969 graduate of Sterling High School. On December 23, 1989 she was united in marriage to Willie Peters.
Lillian was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Bethel AME Church in Clinton, Iowa and a past member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Sterling, Illinois.
Lillian worked as a CNA at The Alverno in Clinton, Iowa. Caring for people was always in her nature. She also enjoyed giving advice to those in need and was always a faithful shoulder to cry on. Lillian loved life and a big part of that was her contagious laugh. Above all she loved her family dearly and loved her faith and commitment to God. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.
Lillian is survived by her husband Willie of Clinton, IA., one daughter - Kori Vaughn of Clinton, IA.; three grandsons - J'Kar Vaughn, Javian Jones, Jarai Rodriguez; four sisters - Effie McGee of Bloomington, IL., Carrie Carr of Sterling, IL., Hazel Davis of San Diego, CA., Annie McGee of Moreno Valley, CA; four brothers- Isaac (Earline) Marcer of Dixon, IL., William Yarbrough Jr. of Dixon, Illinois, Robert Yarbrough of Camden N.J. and Wes Yarbrough of Washington, D.C.; two step children - Roberta Peters and Duane Peters of Davenport, IA.; one step-grandson - Terrell of Davenport, IA.,
Preceding Lillian in death were her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
