Kirk 'Goon' J. Wainwright, 64 of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Cremation rites have been accorded with a gathering of friends and celebration of his life taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22 at Jersey's Pub in Camanche, Iowa. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kirk was born October 2, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Shirley and Virginia (Vickerstaff) Wainwright. Kirk was united in marriage to Jean Stearns in 1971, they would later divorce, however remain good friends. Jean would later take care of Kirk in his final months.
Kirk was a mason by trade and worked for various contractors in the area.
Kirk enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. He loved his family very much, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends he made through the years.
Kirk is survived by one daughter - Dawn Barker of Camanche, IA.; one son - Jay Wainwright of Clinton, IA.; three grandchildren - Lyndsi of Clinton, Devin of Cedar Rapids IA. and Bryce of Clinton, IA.; one sister - Becky Wainwright of Clinton, IA. and his very special friend Jean Wainwright of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, and several aunts and uncles.
