Obituary for Kevin Dykema

Kevin Dykema, 56, of Camanche, Iowa passed away at his home on July 14, 2014. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life to take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kevin was born September 10, 1957 in Monterey, California the son of Arthur and Jacqueline (Long) Dykema. Kevin was united in marriage to Laurel Barker on July 2, 1977 in Morrison, Illinois; Laurel would later lose her hard fought battle to cancer.
Kevin worked at Drives, LLC. in Fulton, Illinois for over 25 years. He later went back to school at Scott Community College, acquiring his CDL and truck driving became his new career and passion.
Kevin loved the outdoors especially riding horses, riding four wheelers and going for trips on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He also enjoyed playing pool, playing for various teams in the area. Above all he loved his family very much; he enjoyed watching his son race at Cordova, and loved spending time with his grandkids. He also loved Buddy, his faithful dog and companion. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Kevin is survived by his two children - Heather (Brent) Toppert of Morrison, Il., Andrew Dykema of Camanche, Iowa; three grandchildren - Bradley, Embrey, Kyver at home; his Father - Arthur (Sherry) Dykema of Sterling, IL.; three sisters - Sandra (Jim) Colley of Abilene, TX, Marion (Tim Nye) Wilkins of Fulton, Il., Susan (Wanetta) Dykema-Sterner of Wilton, IA.; one brother - Jonathan (Diane) Dykema of Morrison, IL. with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Kevin in death were his mother - Jacqueline, his wife Laurel and one grandson - Cayden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made can be directed to the family to help pay for bills.
