Kathy Louise Liggins, 63, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Hospitals and Clinics on Friday, February 13, 2019. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service taking place at 2 pm on Saturday, February 23 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will occur one-hour prior from 1 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Kathy Louise Liggins was born Sunday, July 10, 1955 to Ted E. Goettsch and Ruby (Sparlin) Martin. Kathy gained her wings Wednesday, February 13th, 2019.
Kathy received her GED and went on to study computer programming at Virginia Tech in West Virginia. Kathy spent most of her career working in the service industry. She was a server for more than 20 years, sharing her smile with customers at the Ramada Inn in Clinton, IA; and Village Inn in Clinton and Davenport, IA.
Kathy enjoyed traveling and the outdoors, she had a passion for fishing and would be on the river every chance she could get. She also loved to cook out and when she barbequed, everyone was invited - including mother nature! Sun, rain, or snow, it did not matter. If she wanted to barbeque, there would be a barbeque! Kathy also enjoyed going to concerts, playing cards, dominos but most of all she loved to spend time with family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Rhonda Goettsch of Davenport IA, 3 amazing grandchildren; Paris, Ja'reka, and Tre'von; all of Davenport IA. Kathy is loved by 4 sisters; Deanna (Steve) Larkin of Richland, WA; Laura (Pudgy) Goettsch of Clinton, IA; Julie (Kemper) Fryer-Reeves of East Chicago, IL, and Catherine Castillo of Fairbury, NE; and 2 brothers; Carl (Sandy) Sparlin of Wheatland, IA; and Mike (Wendy) Hinz of Crawfordsville, IN. Kathy is missed by several nieces and nephews. Kathy leaves behind her life partner Danny Shivers.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Ted Goettsch, her mother and step-father and Ruby Martin and Robert Martin; her grandmother Olive Sparlin and her sister Kristol Krivolavy.
