Obituary for Kathy Jo Brown (Schmidt)
Kathy Jo Brown, 68, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at the Alverno on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service takes place at 4:30 pm on Monday, January 14, at Journey Church, Clinton. Private burial occurs at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Kathy was born December 25, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Florence (Schroeder) Schmidt. She was a graduate of Clinton High School. Kathy married Larry Ferguson in 1967, they would later divorce, she was then united in marriage to Marvin Brown in 1982.
Kathy was a Retail Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue, in Texas, for many years.
She was member of Journey Church in Clinton. She was also a member of the Stephen Ministry while living in Texas.
Kathy loved spending time in her garden. She enjoyed helping the homeless at the Victory Center. She loved her Christian faith and spreading God’s word. Her fur-babies, her dog - Taco and cat – Cindy meant the world to her. She loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Kathy is survived by her husband Marvin of Clinton; sons - Jeffrey (Tammy) Ferguson and James (Tricia) Ferguson both of TX; with many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister – Vicky Lynch of Clinton; one brother – Gary (Dian) Schmidt of Morrison; with many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Kathy in death were her parents, son – Jason Ferguson and sisters – Judy Jones and Deanna Wagoner.
