Obituary for Kathryn Mae Lawrence (Geerts)
Kathryn Mae Lawrence, 81, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, on Monday, February 27, 2023. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of her life taking place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Kathryn was born March 9, 1941, in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Jr., and Ida (Letcher) Geerts.
Kathryn worked for many years as a housekeeper at the Chestnut Mountain Resort until her retirement.
Kathryn enjoyed reading and working all sorts of puzzles. She loved her cat — Loki. Kathryn also enjoyed cooking and baking. Above all she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be incredibly missed.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters — Susan Lawrence of Hanover, IL and Shelly Richmond of Clinton; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters — Betty Geerts of Hanover, IL and Janet Geerts of Sterling, IL; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister — Mary, and one brother — Earl.
