Obituary for Karen Boles

Karen Louise Boles, 72, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service occurs at 12 pm on Saturday, August 28, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation occurs 1 hour prior from 11 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. Burial follows at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Karen was born on January 12, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Hazel (McDuff) Nelson. Karen was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Boles on November 14, 1970.

Karen worked as a childcare provider for 30 years. She was also a member of the First Congressional Church. She loved being involved in her community and participated in many local organizations including - an associate of Clinton Assembly #3 of International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, The Wildlife Association for the State of Iowa, the Clinton Citizens Police Academy, and volunteered as a court appointed special advocate for children in the Juvenile Court system.

She had a special place in her heart for animals and enjoyed sewing in her spare time. Karen loved baking and was especially known for her Christmas candies. She had a very kind soul and had a passion for helping others. Above all she loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.

Karen is survived by one daughter- Sally Ann (Jacob Schoenhaar) Judge of Clinton; three grandchildren- Bram, Robert, Dominick; two great grandchildren- Dawson and Kyler; three sisters- Kay (Rich) Shear of Clinton, Kim (Randy) Frahm of Clinton, and Connie Boles of Camanche; with several nieces, nephews, cousin and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband- Robert; her son- Edward Boles; one grand-daughter- Lydia James Schoenhaar; and one great-granddaughter; Kennzlee Judge.
