Obituary for Jule Luckritz

Jule Edgar Luckritz, 73, of Clinton passed away at Mercy Living Center -North on May 24th, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28th at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jule was born June 3, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa the son of August and Grace (Bos) Luckritz. He was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School and also a graduate of Clinton Community College, earning his two year associates degree. He was united in marriage to Wilma Petersen On February 9th, 1961.
Jule served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.
After 38 years he retired from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local 316 and N. A. R. V.R.E. unit #67.
Jule was a very active member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church performing duties as a lector, usher, greeter, rang the church bells and sang solo's at various church services. He had many passions in life, one of which was singing both in the Church choir and RiverChor - the gateway areas premier chorus. His other passion was volunteering for various groups such as the Clinton Historical Society, a board member of Soaring Eagle Nature Center in Clinton. Jule also volunteered for mobile meals and along with his wife would bake and prepare food for his many friends and the less fortunate. He also volunteered time to tutor children as part of Adult and Youth Tutoring in Clinton. At the end of the day he always found time to enjoy the outdoors and nature, he loved fishing, gardening, taking care of his pets at home as well as natures pets outside - caring for birds, rabbits and squirrels. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.
Jule is survived by his wife Wilma Jean of Clinton, Ia.; one daughter -Dee Ann (Dan) Sullivan of Clinton, Ia.; one son - Bruce Luckritz of Michigan; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters - Beatrice Zastrow of Clinton, Ia., Nola Wosoba of Clinton, Ia. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Glen.
