Joyce Marlene Gilbert, 77, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Honoring the family's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded . A Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joyce was born February 24, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Hudson and Myrtle (Jones) Taylor. Following high school, she would go on to college and acquire a certificate as a nurse's assistant. Joyce was united in marriage to Larry Gilbert on July 14, 1971 in Camanche, Iowa.
Joyce worked in the local area for many years as a cook and waitress. She loved making quilts, afghans and enjoyed crocheting. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She enjoyed watching her favorite baseball team, the Cubs, and she also enjoyed playing Bingo. Joyce loved animals, especially all of the pets she had throughout her life. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Joyce is survived by her husband - Larry Gilbert of Clinton, IA; three daughters - Traci Gehl of Clinton, IA, Renee Gilbert of Clinton, IA, Robin Gilbert-Thomas of Muscatine, IA; two sons - Don (Annette) Miller of Clinton, IA, Paul (Becky) Miller of Clinton, IA; twenty grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her step-mother - Maxine Taylor of Clinton, IA; one sister - Nadine Klotz of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother - Terry (Barbara) Taylor of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, one son - Jeffrey Miller, one daughter - Lisa Mendenhall and two grandsons - Joshua Miller and Eric Cram.
