Joyce E. Carr, 88, of Bella Vista, Arkansas (formerly of Clinton) passed away at the Concordia Health & Rehab Nursing Home in Bella Vista, Arkansas on May 2, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1105 LaMetta Wynn Drive, Clinton, Iowa – just off Mill Creek Parkway). A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive - west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joyce was born July 20, 1925 in Welton, Iowa the daughter of Irel and Imogene (Hainstalk) Van Horn. She was a 1944 graduate of Clinton High School. Joyce was united in marriage to Benjamin H. Carr on March 20, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa. Joyce was employed with C.E. Armstrong for 15+ years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton, the Ladies Auxiliary, a Third Order Member of St. Francis, the Moose Club and the Cursio Movement in Florida.
Joyce was very dedicated to her Catholic faith. She enjoyed passing the time by sewing and crocheting and socializing during her card club. She loved traveling with her husband, especially on their trips to Florida. Above all she loved her family dearly and will be sadly missed.
Joyce is survived by one daughter - Stephanne (Harry) Peterson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many other family and friends she made over the years.
Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, her husband Benjamin, one brother and two sisters.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
