Obituary for Joseph Nicholas Raulins

Joseph Nicholas Raulins, 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Prairie Hills Assisted Living on Sunday, July 17, 2016. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joseph was born June 4, 1924 in Natchez, Mississippi, the son of Bertram and Mary (Farr) Raulins. Following high school Joseph would briefly attend Memphis Tech College before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1942 to 1947 - a veteran of WWII. Joseph was united in marriage to Rachel Carroll on March 29, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Joseph was member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, Iowa. He was also a member of the American Legion. He retired from Hawkeye Chemical, as a Superintendent, in 1986. Prior to hiring on with Hawkeye he was instrumental in starting up a large fertilizer company in Cartagena, Columbia South-America.
Joseph enjoyed reading, working in his garden, fishing and he loved taking long walks outdoors. Above all, he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by one daughter - Robin (Jim) Boyd of Port Byron, Il, two grandchildren - Jacob (Carissa) Boyd of East Moline, Il., Jena (Eric) Dhooge of Bloomington, Il; one great granddaughter - Kensley at home; two great grandsons - Carson and Corbin at home; one brother - Max Raulins of Dallas, TX; with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Joseph in death were his parents, his wife - Rachel, two sons- Marc Raulins and Doug Dodson and one grandson - Jonathon.
