Obituary for John S. Caruso

John S. Caruso, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Select Specialty Hospitals on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, January 6, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive) and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the Church. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born May 29, 1930 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the son of Anthony and Rosemary (Cuccia) Caruso. John was united in marriage to Eloice Pratt on September 16, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

John began his career with the Rock Island Railroad and concluded his career at the Southern Pacific Railroad.

John was a member of Prince of Peace Parish; he was a devout Catholic whose life’s focus was his faith in our Lord.

John enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. He also enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was woodworking or working on cars. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.

John is survived by his daughters - Rosemary (Paul) Schroeder of Baldwin, IA, Christi Rickertsen of St. Charles, IL, Ann (Rocky) Drinkwine of Prairie du Chien, WI.; sons - Bob (Jovi) Caruso of Cedar Falls, IA; Thomas (Lisa) Caruso of Clinton, IA, Andrew (Barb) Caruso of Ankeny, IA; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, sisters – Josephine Azzaro of Kansas City, MO, Catherine Blatter of Michigan; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding John in death were his parents, his wife, daughter, Mary Jane and son, John.
