John Glenn Armstrong, Jr., 74, of Fulton, Illinois passed away at his residence on February 14, 2013. Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be take place two hours prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born June 11th, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa the son of John Sr. and Ardell (Studeman) Armstrong. He was a 1957 graduate of Northeast High School. On February 13th, 1965 he was united in marriage to Shirley Bos in Fulton, Illinois.
John worked for Northwestern Wire in Sterling Illinois as a steel worker; he retired from Northwestern Wire after 30+ years.
John lead a simple and quiet life after retirement.
John is survived by his wife - Shirley; six sons- John (Anne) Williams of Clinton, IA., Glenn Armstrong of Clinton, IA., Guy Armstrong of Clinton, IA., Gary Armstrong of Clinton, IA., Rodney Armstrong of Hoffman Estates, IL., Roger (Tina) Armstrong of Clinton, IA., seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters - Ann Edwards of Neosha, MO., Mary Jean Jones of Clinton, IA.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
