Obituary for Janice Kay Bruns (Chafer)
Janice K. Bruns, 80, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Eagle Point Nursing Home on Friday, December 28, 2018. Funeral services occur at 11 am on Wednesday, January 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton. A visitation will occur from 4 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday, January 1, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Janice was born March 17, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Doris (Williams) Chafer. She was a 1956 graduate of Clinton High School. Janice was united in marriage to Ronald Bruns on April 26, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, together 59 years.
Janice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Janice had been employed in secretarial positions and lastly at Data Dimensions, retiring in 2002.
Among her life pleasures was listening to hymns, reading, being by the river, visiting Amish areas and spending time with her dog, Casey.
Janice is survived by her husband Ronald of Clinton, son – Jay (Melody) Bruns of Mingo and daughter – Jody (Tom Burke) Merfeld of Dubuque; 3 grandchildren – Christopher, Jacob and Kaitlyn Bruns; brother Jon Chafer; brother in-law- Richard Reid; niece – Rebekah Reid; nephews – Richard, Michael and Jeffrey Reid and special cousin – Deborah (Kyle Higgins) Nelson.
Preceding Janice in death were her parents and loving sister, Beverly Reid
