Obituary for Jane Doonan

Jane Doonan, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Prairie Hills Assisted Living on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will take place at a Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Jane was born December 26, 1925 in Niles, Illinois, the daughter of Peter and Edna (Clelland) Baumhardt. She was a 1943 graduate of Niles High School. She was united in marriage to Elmer Luett in 1946 – he passed away in 1981, she then married Russ Doonan in 1988 – Russ passed away in 2016.
Jane began her career at the Western Union Telegraph Company, during the WWII era, she then joined the General Electric Company retiring after 35 years as a Quality Assurance Inspector.
Jane enjoyed bowling and loved the outdoors, especially hiking, fishing and just about any activity outdoors – at the age of 75 she went white-water rafting. She loved animals and had various pets throughout her life. Above all, Jane was a loyal and devout mother to her children – she will be sadly missed.
Jane is survived by her three sons – Bruce Luett of Seattle, WA, Mike (Paula) Luett of Stillwater, MN and Lee (Teri) Luett of Clinton, IA; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Jane in death were her parents, her first husband – Elmer Luett, her second husband – Russ Doonan; one son – Wayne and one daughter – Sharon; one sister – Grace and four brothers – Bob and Ray and twins – Jack and Jim.
