Jan Michael Bentley, 68, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Living Center - North on September 7, 2014. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of his life taking place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at The Eighth Street Inn, Clinton. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jan was born January 13, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Ralph and Bernice (Petersen) Bentley. He served his country in the U.S. Army, serving during the Viet- Nam War. Jan worked for Collis in Clinton, retiring after 30 years.
Jan was a long time member of the Clinton Eagles Club. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially NASCAR and loved watching old movies. His favorite past time was socializing at his favorite watering hole, The Eighth Street Inn.
Jan is survived by a special family including Diane, Todd, Lisa and Chelsey Petersen of Clinton, Kenny Jungen, Beth Robb, Jim Leu all of Clinton and all of his special friends at The Eighth Street Inn.
Preceding Jan in death were his parents and his very close friend Rich Petersen.
