Jim was born November 25, 1931 in Leon, Iowa, the son of Bert and Lillian (Akes) Williams. Later in life his step-father, Vernis Bailey, would play an important role in his life. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, as a Combat Engineer. Following his return from the service, he worked at Curtis Company where he would meet his future wife Patricia. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Reburn on January 19, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Clinton, Iowa. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year; Patricia recently passed away in July.
Jim was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Postal Service Mail Carrier, retiring after 40+ years of service in Clinton.
Jim was an avid amateur photographer, before the digital age, taking pictures at many events and then spending the long hours of processing . He loved golfing, woodworking and spending time in his garden. However his main love was his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father and would rather spend his free time with them, whether it was fishing, traveling, shopping or the Holidays - his family is all he needed to be happy. He loved them very much - he will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by one daughter - Stacey (Jeff) Gage of Princeton, MN; two sons - Ed (Sheryl) Williams of Loveland, CO and Paul (Theresa) Williams of Clinton, IA; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister - Emma Simpson of Fulton, IL; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents, his wife and one brother in-law.
The family of Patricia and James Williams wishes to thank the staff at both Harbor Crest Home and Mercy Medical Dialysis Center for their kind and loving care shown to their parents.
Memorials made can be directed to Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church or Mercy Medical Dialysis Center in Clinton.
