Obituary for James "Jim" Reed

James "Jim" A. Reed, 68, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 24, 2017. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Jim was born February 5, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Jeanette (Petersen) Reed. He was a 1967 graduate of Clinton High School. He served his County in the U.S. Navy – a Vietnam War veteran. Jim was united in marriage to Georgia Schreck in October, 1994.
Jim worked for the City of Clinton Parks Department, retiring after 41 years of service.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and painting. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a very active buck skinner, spending time with fellow colleagues reacting the days-of-old as a mountain man. He was also a skilled midwestern wood carver, with many of his horse carousel carvings purchased by affluent professionals, as well as his works displayed several times at the at the Putman museum.
Jim is survived by his wife Georgia of Clinton, IA; one sister – Patricia (Steven) Boekeloo of Clinton, IA; his special friends – Linda and David Brantley of Clinton, IA; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and two brothers – Mike and Bob
