Obituary for James Henry "Jim" O'Dell
James “Jim” Henry O’Dell, 79, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on September 30th, 2022. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life taking place from 12 pm to 3 pm at the AMVETS in Clinton, Iowa on Sunday, October 9th. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Jim was born December 22, 1942 to Mary (Rose) and Perry O’Dell, in Springfield, Mo. He married Paula (Pettitt) O’Dell December 22, 1973. Jim drove truck for forty-one years receiving awards for over three million safe miles from various trucking companies. He retired from Walmart 2014. He served as an E-4 in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963, on the USS Regulus. Residing in Clinton for forty-three years, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and mostly spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paula, of 49 years. His children, William (Jorden) Bonney Nucla, CO, Tricia (Mark) Petersen of Clinton, Marie (Mike) Goldbeck-Strunk of Clinton, James (Shannon) O’Dell of Davenport. Grandchildren Zachary, Levi, Daisy, William Jr and Ashlie Bonney. Tyler, McKenzie and Nicolas Petersen. Cassie Goldbeck, Michael and Jordan Strunk. Alexis Syverson, Aubrey, Karissa, Emily and Maddisen O’Dell. Great grandchildren Lynnea, Sophia, Addilynn, and Alana Strunk. Siblings Mary (Tom) Farless of Muscatine, IA. Martha (Joe) Lewellan of Springfield, MO. Laurie (David) Sageser of Havre, MT. Frank (Janet) O’Dell of Hernando, FL. Several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sibling Jess O’Dell of Las Vegas, nephews Al Lewellan and Ricky Farless, and granddaughter Camilla Bonney.
