Obituary for Jacqueline "Jackie" Pollard

Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie (Leslie) Pollard, 95, of Clinton, Iowa went home to our Lord on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Mercy Living Center - South. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will occur one hour prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Church. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Fulton, Illinois. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jacqueline was born July 21, 1921, the daughter of Clarence and Marie (Gilbert) Leslie. She was a 1939 graduate of Fulton, High School. She was united in marriage to Richard Bly Pollard on April 24, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa - Richard passed away in 1997.
Jackie was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Auxiliary. She was in charge of the Church Sacramental records. She was instrumental combining the Sacramental records of five parish's into one archive for the newly formed Prince of Peace Parish.
Jackie and her husband Richard owned and operated Richard's Catering Service, opening their doors in 1964. They also opened Camelot and Sir Richard's Cellar in 1970. Later they owned and operated Jackie's Paper Back Exchange.
Jackie loved playing Bridge and was in many Bridge clubs. She enjoyed scrapbooking, quilting, camping and she loved reading. As an avid genealogist, she spent many an hour researching family history. She loved to sit and talk things over with her family and friends. She never allowed her children or grandchildren to be bored - she would often reply to them "if you're bored you must be a very boring person".
Jacqueline is survived by her five children - Thomas Pollard of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carole Edwards of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rita (Dennis) Forest of Mount Vernon, TX, Leslie (Lowell) Koch of Metamora, IL, Patrick (Lisa) Pollard of Fulton, Il; one brother - Gilbert (Sharon) Leslie of Clinton, IA; 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and her other special daughters - Ann Louise Agnew, Mary Kay Brandt and Trish Fagan.
Preceding Jacqueline in death were her parents, her husband Richard and grandson Adam Pollard.
Memorials made can be directed to Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
