Obituary for Idena Snyder
Idena Florence Snyder, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Funeral services occur at 1 pm on Saturday, October 1, at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. A visitation occurs one hour prior from 12 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Idena was born December 4, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Ransloe) Friis. She was united in marriage to Dale Higgins - they later divorced.
Idena was a graduate of Clinton High School and received an Associates of Arts degree in Criminology from Clinton Community College.
Idena worked in the Maintenance Department at International Paper for 32 years.
She was a member of The Lyon’s United Methodist Church. She was also the area campaign manager for Hilary Clinton.
Idena enjoyed going to concerts, and, in the 60's she met Janis Joplin at the Chicago Theatre. She was invited into the bands private room and visited with the band and acquired Janis's autograph. She loved to travel, taking yearly trips visiting the Continental United States, and during a recent trip to Alaska she enjoyed Whale watching. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and loved her pets, her dog — Buffett and her cat — Kitty. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
Idena is survived by her two daughters — Brenda (Mike Emmons) Higgins of Ashton, IL and Judy (Kevin) Wilking of St. Peter Minnesota; one grandson — Daltin Higgins of Clinton; two grand-daughters — Tarrah Higgins and Jasmine Clavel; one sister — Carol Pope; step-brother — Ray Friis Jr.; two nieces — Kacy Pope and Kim Sikkema; with special niece — Janel (Jeremy) Broderick; one nephew — David Pope Jr.; with several cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law — Dave Pope.
