Obituary for Henry "Hank" Walden

Henry "Hank" F. Walden, 83, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, at Lemke Funeral Homes- South Chapel (West side of Clinton Lawn cemetery). A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Henry was born January 21, 1931 in Independence, Missouri, the loving son of Joel W. Sr. and Martha E. (Pennock)Walden. He was a 1949 graduate of William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. Henry was united in marriage to Mary Themas on November 19, 1977 in Iowa City, Iowa - Mary passed away in January 2013.
Henry was a heavy construction laborer for several contractors working through the Laborers Local Union 309.
Henry loved to play pool, honing his pool skills at a young age. Along with his pool playing wife Mary, he won numerous tournaments and trophies playing both nationally and locally; he was a respected and fierce competitor. He loved to tell jokes and stories to anyone who would listen. Henry loved his pets, especially his dog Matthew and his surviving cat Princess; he simply loved all animals, even feeding the neighborhood strays each day. Henry loved his wife dearly and took great care of her especially in her final days. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all.
Henry is survived by three daughters - Sylvia Schneider of Huston, TX., Debbie Walden of Huston, TX., Carolyn Walden of Kansas City, MO.; two step-daughters - Susan Gallagher of Des Moines, IA., Mary Covert of Chicago, IL.; two step-sons - Gary Ladd Jr. of Ina, IL., Larry Ladd of Clinton, IA; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one brother - Joel W. Walden Jr. of Independence MO.; with many nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife Mary and his sister in-law Pat.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
