Obituary for Henry "Marty" Jacobsen

Henry Martin "Marty" Jacobsen Jr., 86, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Living Center - North on Thursday, August 4, 2016. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Henry was born January 26, 1930 in Hilight, Wyoming, the son of Henry and Mary(Ferguson) Jacobsen Sr. He was a 1948 graduate of Lyon's High School in Clinton. He was united in marriage to Margery Lowther on June 17, 1951 at Lyon's United Methodist Church. He joined the U.S. Army, a Korean War veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954.
Henry was a long-time member of Lyon's United Methodist Church - he was a trustee, as well as an usher and team member who built the church basement. He was also a volunteer Fireman for the City of Andover and a leader in 4-H.
He worked for Allied Steel Company, retiring after 27-1/2 years.
He loved farming his 60 areas, especially tending to his livestock; he believed in organic farming before it became popular. Above all, he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Henry is survived by one daughter - Marcia (Danny) Larson of Clinton, IA; two sons - Daniel (Pat) Jacobsen of Clinton, IA and David (Brenda) Jacobsen of Sherrard, Il; 4 grandchildren - Corey, Jason, Nathan and Katrina; five great-grandchildren - Zoey, Olivia, Zerek, Grace, Logan; one sister -Ellen (Don) Ketelsen of Clinton, IA, one brother - Jack Jacobsen of Muscatine, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Henry in death were his parents, his wife, one granddaughter and one brother.
