Harold Woods, 85, of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, July 14, at Mercy Living Center. Funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17,at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel ( West side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harold was born June 6, 1927, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Martha (Holst) Woods. Harold attended Clinton High School. He was a Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He married Mary Geerts on March 19, 1966 in Albany, Illinois.
Harold worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, as a car man, for 21 years.
Harold loved working with wood and was regarded as a craftsman . He also loved fishing and enjoyed working for the Zion Lutheran Church as maintenance man. In later years Harold delivered mobile meals for the elderly. Harold loved children, and following his retirement he especially loved chatting with children while he worked as a cross guard for Jefferson Middle School.
Harold is survived by his wife Mary; one daughter - Brenda (Roger) Huskey of Clinton; two sons - Dennis Woods of Clinton, Charlie Woods of Clinton; eight grand children; five great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; one granddaughter- Jennifer Lynn Kroymann; one sister and four brothers.
