Obituary for Harlen Floyd James

Harlen F. James, 89, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center South on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a funeral service taking place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harlen was born July 23, 1926 in Sabula Iowa, the son of Floyd and Ida (Meyers) James. Harlen was united in marriage to Nancy L. Kensinger on March 20th, 1961 in Morrison, Illinois. He worked for North Western Railroad and later for Miller Security Services. He loved the Lord and faithfully attended his church. He enjoyed riding his bike, spending time at the lock and dam along the Mississippi River, and watching his favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Clinton's own, the LumberKings, where he was known as the 50/50 guy. Harlen was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
Harlen is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of Clinton IA; two daughters - Alice James of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jackie (Michael) Nelson of Clinton, IA; three sons - Jesse (Lourdes) James of Montclair, CA, Frank (Mary) James of Clinton, IA, and Tony James of Clinton, IA with seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
