Grace "Hazel" Johnston, 96, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on September 9, 2016. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will occur one hour prior from 12:00 p.m. until time of the graveside service on Sunday at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Hazel was born January 30, 1920 in Delmar, Iowa the daughter of George and Eva (Lakoff) Wray. Hazel was united in marriage to Archie Dean Johnston on September 11, 1943.
She was a religious woman and belonged to the Presbyterian Church. Hazel was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers, bird watching, working puzzles and playing cards. Her greatest joy was her family and especially visits from her many grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Hazel is survived by her daughter - Shirley (Bob) Johnson of Clinton, IA; one son - Robert Johnston of Curryville, MO; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Hazel in death were her parents, her husband, her son - Everett, two brothers, five sisters, one granddaughter - Michelle, one daughter in-law - Janet and one son in-law- Wayne.
