Obituary for Grace Anna Burke (Buelow)

Grace Anna (Buelow) Burke, 94, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the Alverno on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. A Funeral Mass will take place at 12 pm on Friday, February 22, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will occur 2 hours prior from 10 am until the Funeral Mass at the Church. Burial takes place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Grace was born January 2, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Reinholdt and Anna (Harkins) Buelow. She was a 1943 Graduate of Lyon’s High School. Grace was united in marriage to William Burke on April 12, 1947 at St. Irenaeus Church.

Grace was a homemaker and also worked as a Sales Clerk for Von Maur for 10 years.

Grace was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish and then Prince of Peace Parish. She was also a member of the DCCW group, as well as, several card club groups.

Grace was an avid reader, she loved to knit and enjoyed participating in card clubs, a proficient 500 card game player. She was also an excellent cook. Grace loved to socialize with family and friends, always staying up on current events. She was a devout Catholic who loved her faith. Above all, she loved her entire family very much and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.

She is survived by her children – Jeanne Ann (Ted) Williams of Clinton, Patrick (Kathleen) of Le Claire, IA, Cynthia (David) Harcourt of Alabaster, AL, Joseph (Rachel) Burke of Indianapolis, IN, John (Lucrecia) Burke of Gilbert, AZ; 7 Grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers – Ralph (JoAnn) Buelow of Clinton, IA and Earl (June) Buelow of Camanche, IA, with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
