Obituary for Gloria Mae McDonnell-Jepsen (Eggers)
Gloria Mae McDonnell-Jepsen, 93, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at Eagle Point Health Care Center on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Private family services occurred with burial at Andover Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Gloria was born May 20, 1929, in Andover, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Henreitte (Huebner) Eggers. She was united in marriage to George Robert “Bob” McDonnell on June 26, 1949.
After graduating from high school, she furthered her education acquiring a teaching certificate.
Gloria was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness since 1957.
She worked as a teacher, however changed her career becoming the Post Master at the Teeds Grove Post Office and concluded her career as an associate at Northwest Fabrics.
Gloria loved the outdoors, especially tending to her garden — she enjoyed harvesting the garden's fruits and vegetables. Additionally, she was an amateur horticulturist proficient with trees. When she wasn't outdoors, she enjoyed crafting and sewing. Gloria was a neighborhood mother to many children and will be well remembered by her witty sense of humor. She also enjoyed poetry and painting.
Gloria is survived by her children — Julie (Bruce) Brainbridge of Teeds Grove, IA, Laurie McDonnell of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Robert McDonnell of Suffolk, VA, Thomas Jepsen of Clinton, IA; and one brother — Russell Eggers of Savanna, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George “Bob”, daughter — Debbie, three sisters — Delores, Ruby, and Mary, and brother — Garnet.
