Gladys K. Ricklefs, 83, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Monday, August 28, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Gladys was born July 6, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Emery and Maybelle (Patterson) Mills. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Ricklefs on November 29, 1953 in Clinton, Iowa.
Gladys was a past member of the Lyon's Methodist Church. She worked at Mercy Hospital as a Dietary Aide, retiring after 25 years.
Gladys enjoyed feeding and watching her birds every day, she also liked taking walks. She enjoyed socializing with friends and the staff at the Alverno, with whom she loved dearly. She also loved spending time with Daisy, the family Lab. Above all she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Gladys is survived by her two daughters - Kathy Cronin of Eugene, OR and Sue Rasmussen of West Jordan, UT; one daughter in-law Julie (Ricklefs) and Bob Haring of Clinton, IA; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, her husband, her son – Lawrence Jr., 3 sisters and 1 brother.
