Gail E. McCreery, 87, of Maquoketa, and formerly of Clinton, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Lemke Funeral Homes, North Chapel 2304 North 2nd Street. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family.

Gail was born November 20, 1923, in Clinton the son of Eldred and Mildred ( Kraus ) McCreery.

Gail graduated from Clinton High School in 1942.

Gail served the United States Army from November 1948 – December 1949.


Gail enjoyed bowling and reading. He was dedicated to providing loving care to his Mom.

Survivors include, 1 brother Russell (Mary) McCreery, of Seattle, Washington, Half-brother, Richard Smith, of Wales, 2 Nephews, Dr. Brian R. McCreery, of Danville, California, Dr. Bruce R. (Lynn) McCreery, of Pleasant Hills, California, and 3 great nephews, Sean, Ryan and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
