Obituary for Frederick Christian "Fred" Steen

Frederick “Fred” Christian Steen, 82, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Genesis Medical Center – Davenport on Friday, May 17, 2019. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of his life taking place from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, May 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Fred was born December 17, 1936 in Welton Township - Clinton County, the son of Christian and Zola (Webb) Steen. He was a 1954 graduate of Elvira High School.

Fred married Sue Widner in 1957, they would later divorce. He then married Lois Johnson in 1970, she passed in 2004. On January 7, 2006 Fred was united in marriage to Lynn Bryant in Yuma, Arizona.

Fred was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran faith and enjoyed bowling on the Lutheran Bowling League. He was also a member of the Moose Club.

Fred worked as a Farm Hand, as well as, working at Clinton Corn Processing, in the “Sugar House”, and then transitioning to ADM - retiring after a combined 33+ years.

Fred enjoyed playing cards and loved being outdoors. Above all, he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren, he will be sadly missed.

Fred is survived by his wife – Lynn of Clinton; twelve children – Linda (Harold) Teagarden of Princeton, IA, Laura (Roger) Sikkema of Fulton, IL, Terry (Jackie) Johnson of Rockford, Il, Lori (Jeff) McIntyre Shelbyville, IN, Debra (Larry) Behrens of Davenport, IA, Rochelle (Jerry) Perez of Davenport, IA, Rob (Diane) Rioux of Gilbert, IA, Robyn (Aaron) Feltmeyer of Galesburg, IL; one daughter in-law Jamie Johnson of Clinton, IA; 53 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister – Barb (Keith) DeVries of Ackley, IA; two sister in-laws – Janet (Russ) Steen and Helen Steen both of Clinton; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Fred in death were his parents; sister Joyce, two brothers – Delbert and David; daughter – Judy Ward and three sons – Ricky Johnson, Steve Steen and Bill Johnson and his second wife Lois of 32 years.
