Obituary for Evelyn Mae Weis (Faur)
Evelyn “Evie” Mae Weis, 77, of Camanche, IA formerly of Clinton, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday January 21, 2023. She has been cremated in accordance with her wishes. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM CST at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1100 11th Ave N, Clinton, IA 52732. Funeral service will follow. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Evie was born June 29th, 1945, to Mary (Wolfe) and William Faur. Evie was a longtime resident of Clinton, IA graduating from Our Lady of Angels High School.
Of the most important things to Evie, was her faith founded on the Bible-based hope of a future earthly paradise, where those who have died will be resurrected and no longer suffer from pain, sickness, and anxiety. Many of her family and friends’ fondest memories are of spending time with Evie teaching others about that hope. One of her favorite scriptures to share was Philippians 4: 6 & 7 which says “Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God, and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Jesus Christ.”
Evie married Greg Weis on May 23rd, 1980, in Clinton, IA. Throughout their 42 years of marriage, Greg and Evie enjoyed being together in the ministry, traveling, hunting for furniture that Evie could use her special creativity to repurpose, and spending time with their many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They also enjoyed the many dear friendships they cultivated due to their mutual love of Jehovah God.
Evie is survived by her husband Greg of Camanche, IA, 2 brothers-in-law John Andresen and Doug Hall, her children Paula (Darren) Rhodes of Clinton, IA, Barb (Brian) Housenga of Clinton, IA, Amy (Tommy) Fuller of Clinton, IA, Amanda McAllister of Camanche, IA, Pam McGowan of Warren, Arkansas, Deb (Joseph) Dauen of Clinton, IA, Steven (Wendy) Weis of Clinton, IA, 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings: Betty, Cathy, Gerald “Shooter”, Mary Ellen, and her brother-in-law Dick.
