Obituary for Evelyn Clare Reistroffer (Medinger)
Evelyn Clare Reistroffer, 94, of Camanche, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 28, 2021. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, June 2 at the Church of the Visitation, Camanche, Iowa. A visitation will occur 1-1/2 hours earlier from 9:30 am until the service hour at the Church. Burial takes place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Preston. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arraignments.
Eveyln was born January 28, 1927 on a farm in old Springbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Michels) Medinger. She was the second youngest of seven children. Her dad died from injuries suffered from a farming accident when she was four years old. She graduated from 8th grade at a country school and worked for various households and the Clinton Garment Factory.
She was united in marriage to Allen Reistroffer on February 22, 1949 at the Springbrook Catholic Church. Two years later Evelyn and Allen would begin farming. Evelyn was in-charge of milking the cows and raising their calves.
Evelyn was a member of the Church of the Visitation, Camanche and the American Legion Auxiliary, Spragueville, Iowa.
Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, with family and friends, listening to Country music and playing her keyboard. Above all, she loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and will be incredibly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her five children – Diane Skinner, daughter in-law Mary Jo Reistroffer, Paula (Brian Chandler) Coleman, Sandra (Tom) Claussen, Steve Reistroffer, Mary Jo (Tom) McCleary; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister in-law – Vera Medinger and one brother in-law – Charles (Delores) Reistroffer; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen, infant daughter Jo Ann, son - Randy; four sisters and two brothers and son in-law - Troy.
