Evelyn Phillips, 88, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center – North on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Honoring her final request, cremation rites will be accorded with a private burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Sabula, Iowa. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born October 13, 1928 in Sabula, Iowa the daughter of Andrew and Laura (Tillis) Johnson. Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Sabula High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Phillips on April 3, 1949 in Freeport, Illinois.
Evelyn started her career working for the Telephone company, however taking care of her husband and family would become her main priority as a caring mother and homemaker. She loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her children – Dave Phillips of Fulton, IL, Steve (Dede) Phillips of Clinton, IA, Richard Phillips of Thomson, IL, Mike Phillips of Fulton, IL, Diane (Carl) Wilkens of Broadhead, WI and Tim Phillips of Fulton, IL; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and other extended family; one sister – Lorena Green of Savanna, IL; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents and her husband.
