Obituary for Evelyn Mohr

Evelyn Adeline Mohr, 86, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Elvira, passed away peacefully at Bickford Senior Living on Friday, September 1, 2017. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. A visitation will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. An additional visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the Church. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born January 6, 1931 in Welton, Iowa the daughter of John and Amelia (Petersen) Christiansen. She was a 1949 graduate of Elvira High School.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Donald "Don" Mohr on November 8, 1953 at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church – together for 63 years. Together they operated the family farm and she was a loving mother and homemaker.
Evelyn was a longtime member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church.
Evelyn enjoyed working on the farm with her husband, she also enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards, sewing, playing bingo and loved socializing with family and friends. Above all she loved her children and grandchildren very much.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Don of Clinton, IA; 2 daughters – Sonia (Brian) Miller of Preston, IA, Sue (Rick) Schlichter of Rising Sun, IN, 2 sons – Steve (Stacey) Mohr of Charlotte, IA and Scott (Karen) Mohr of Elvira, IA; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 sister – Lucille Meyer of Clinton, IA; 1 brother in-law – David Mohr of Charlotte, IA and 1 sister in-law Elaine Mohr of Oxford Junction, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents, 1 daughter in-law – Laurie Mohr; 1 sister in-law - Shirley Mohr and 2 brother in-laws – Orville Meyer and George Mohr.
